It doesn’t matter how good your ad is, if it not seen by the right people at the right time it won’t be very effective. One opportunity to be in the right place at the right time is to associate your ads with a high interest news event that may put the reader in a frame of mind that makes them more likely to consider your products and services.
This ad would probably have been automatically placed by keyword association and I rather doubt that bin Laden had life insurance, as the premiums would have been astronomical!
Do such ads work? Being an online ad, the advertiser could tell by the number of click throughs to their website on their effectiveness. They may even have set up a landing page for this particular ad.
A similar ad in a newspaper would be far more difficult to track, which is why so many advertisers are deserting print media for more measurable, and cost effective results online where readers are just one click away from their website.
Do you think such ads work?
