Minister Gary Gray
With the new appointments of ministers to the Australian Government, small business has once again been relegated as an after thought to the mega ministry of Resources, Energy and Tourism. Gary Gray is the sixth minister to have Small Business in his portfolio in as many years. While Mr Gray may be quite capable, his background is from one of Australia’s biggest companies, Woodside Petroleum.
It seems unlikely that he will be able to build a strong working relationship with the small business sector in the months before the election with everything else that he has on his plate.
It appears that the message for small business owners the government is sending is that prior to September 14 expect nothing and you won’t be disappointed.
