We are presented all the time with slick professional ads put together by the agencies. These tend to make the DIY ads made by the advertisers themselves look amateurish and embarrassing. But what if the ad was fun and with real people- not actors?
A shopping mall put this ad together themselves using the local business owners to generate traffic at a slow time of year (summer holidays). There is a certain genuineness of the owners promoting their wares. They are not being pushy and there’s no hype. Its small business people, not big department store management clones. They’re just saying, here we are. They seem to be fun people whom you might want to meet- showing the human face of their business.
This is a refreshing change from highly produced commercials, and shows that you don’t need to pay big bucks for an ad as long as it feels honest.
